Persistent Mobile WoW Rumours

Pocketgamer.co.uk have an article right now, claiming that Vivendi are highly likely to be developing a mobile version of WoW, and here are the reasons:

There’s been rumours around for weeks, and we’ve talked about the possibility of playing some form of WoW on mobile phones in the past, but apparently, at a recent Mobile Games Forum show earlier this week, the story everyone was talking about is that Vivendi “is definitely working on World of Warcraft Mobile. ”

They hasten to add that this, of course, is idle gossip. However, when put on the spot by pocketgamer about a mobile WoW during one of the panel sessions at MGF, Vivendi Games Mobile boss Paul Maglione, who was in the audience, simply smiled and replied:

“Mobile aspects will become part of all MMOs,”

To conclude, the article states that if you add all the rumors and hints together, including the fact that Blizz have recently hired a Mobile Development Team, it looks pretty likely we’ll see something in the form of a mobile WoW sometime in the future.

It’s all very vague, and it might just be that Blizz are working on a mobile game, completely unrelated to WoW. But here’s what pocketgamer reckon we might see:

A WoW just for mobile, completely independent of the PC game
Spin off games, based in the WoW world
An application that gives mobile users access to certain aspects of WoW, eg. Guild Chat, checking mail, selling goods. This might come at an extra cost to players, perhaps $1 or $2 a month. Something similar to the Halo 3 Stats available on iPhones
